Task 2: Some people think the money spent on developing technology for space exploration is not justified. There are more beneficial ways to spend this money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
HỌC NGAY TỪ VỰNG LIÊN QUAN ĐẾN CHỦ ĐỀ SPACE EXPLORATION:
aerospace technology : công nghệ vũ trụ
public funding devoted to : ngân sách nhà nước được chi vào gì
place an emphasis on = place more importance on: nên nhấn mạnh vào gì
zero-gravity = weightlessness : môi trường không trọng lực
decreasing resources: làm giảm nguồn lực
quality education: giáo dục chất lượng
Public-funded campaigns: các chiến dịch do nhà nước tài trợ
educate people what action to take : giáo dục người dân nên làm gì
a waste of limited resources : phí phạm nguồn lực vốn đã hạn chế
BÀI MẪU:
For the last few decades, space adventures have been made possible due to advancements in aerospace technology. However, I agree with those who argue that the public funding devoted to the development of technology for space exploration does not provide any benefitsfor our society, therefore the government should place an emphasis on funding education and environmental conservation.
Firstly, the main disadvantage of space travel is that it could have significant consequences on the Earth’s climate. The soot emitted by the rocket launches could raise temperatures at the poles, significantly contributing to global warming. Furthermore, a lot of the advances space exploration brings us is irrelevant to daily life. For example, massive resources have been devoted to developing pens that work in zero-gravity even when pencils will do and the vast majority of the world’s population will never experience weightlessness in their entire life.
Therefore, I strongly support the view that instead of decreasing resources by space travel and such, we must deal with pressing problems on Earth first. The government’s first priority should be providing funding for quality education to make it free for every child. When all students have the opportunity to develop their own talents and capabilities, they would become a competent workforce. As a result, productivity increases, average income increases, and unemployment decreases. The second priority should be environmental preservation. Public-funded campaigns that address climate change, raise public awareness of its impacts, and educate people what action to take, therefore, are more urgent than ever before.
In conclusion, it is my firm belief that providing financial support for developing technology for space exploration is a waste of limited resources due to its effects on the atmosphere and no direct benefits, hence national leaders should place more importanceon education and environmental protection.
