Last week I had this opportunity to visit my friend’s house. We’ve known each other for more than a year, but I’d never been to her house before, as it is located more than 100 km away from Hanoi. 

Before arriving at her house, I didn’t expect much, as I guess it would be a typical Vietnamese house as she lives in the countryside. But when we stopped at her house, I was completely blown away by her stunning modern country home.

My friend said that she had devoted months to researching for innovative house design ideas as she had always wanted to renovate her parents’ old house and convert it into her dream house. So it was no longer a simple country home with traditional design and old farmhouse furniture. 

From the outside, the house is a perfect balance of a modern home exterior combined with a country feel. You can see the glass, gray roof, clean white siding, and wood features all work together to create a modern rustic house.  

The main colors of the exterior and interior design are light and airy colours that will help to make the house more spacious and brighter. To her, the kitchen is the heart of the home and a place for the entire family to gather over food. So, she wants to create a functional and authentic space for the kitchen. She chose a traditional wooden farmhouse table with matching dining chairs in the kitchen. 

And what impressed me the most is the living room. With just a few decorative details, like with the touch of flowers, the choice of a reclaimed wood coffee table, vintage curtains, and a cozy sofa that looks like it was plucked straight from a Western movie, the country feel is added to this space, which makes you want to spend more quality time with your family there. I have to admit that she totally took her love for farmhouse style to the next level. But honestly, I don’t really want to live here, it’s not because the house design doesn’t appeal to me, in fact, it is somehow close to what I imagine about my own dream house. But you know, only if I move from the city to the countryside, can I afford such a beautiful house like that. And I prefer living in an apartment because it requires less maintenance, better security and all the necessary amenities, like gym, pool, supermarket and schools for my children are directly on the premises. So it is a more convenient living place for my family than a house in the rural area.
