I would say I’m only interested in beneficial insects that help plants grow, like ladybugs, honey bees, and butterflies. They can provide a long-term sustainable pest control solution as they prey on the bugs that do a great deal of damage to our garden and backyard plants. However, I’m really terrified of other insects, cause they can affect our crops, and even carry diseases.
2. Do you think insects are useful?
Yes, they are. In reality, most insects are beneficial to humans and the environment, not detrimental. Most of our crops are dependent on pollination by honey bees and other insects. Certain insects are used for biological control in agriculture, as they can be useful as predators to control pests for agriculture, such as beetles, tree bugs, spiders, you name it. Also, insects perform a vast number of vital functions in our ecosystems. They provide foods for many birds, mammals, and fishes on which fishing and hunting depend.
3. What kinds of insects make some people scared?
I think in general, most people are terrified of/ frightened of/ afraid of insects such as spiders, cockroaches, beetles, and insects that can fly, like butterflies. I think we are so scared of these kinds of insects because we don’t see a lot of them wandering around. We rarely even see spiders in our day-to-day lives, so we quickly become fearful of the unknown and find them really disgusting.
4. Are there many different insects in the place where you live?
As I now live in the city, there are not many insects around our house or our neighborhood. I rarely come across cockroaches in my room, and I’m really terrified of them. However, in my hometown, we live in the countryside, and you can find a diversity of insects in the field or in our backyard garden. Most of them are good for our plants and crops, so I’m not scared of insects like beetles, honey bees, or spiders, because I know that they would do no harm to me.
